Come continue your learning with EarthGen in this cohort-based learning opportunity designed for teachers across Washington State who have previously participated in the Climate Justice League (NW Cohort) and is open to new participants. This professional learning community will gather in person with optional opportunities to meet in communities of practice virtually through the remainder of the school year. Participating teachers will engage with resources, experts, and each other to deepen their understandings of how interconnected climate impacts, environmental harms, and social injustices affect the wellbeing of their community and the broader region. They will grow their commitment to centering the experiences, perspectives, knowledges, leadership, and thriving of global majority communities, including those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of the Global Majority.
When
February 15, 2024 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
The in person offering will provide teachers opportunities to critically define climate justice education, workshop climate justice learning approaches and units from their own classroom, and improve their understanding of Antiracist and Anticolonial science teaching. Teachers will also share their transformational visioning for climate justice education and professional development through a listening session.
Climate Justice League alumni are encouraged to bring a colleague to the workshop who may not have engaged with the cohort before. This supports teachers in beginning their own communities of practice.
Teachers will be provided a sub reimbursement and upon completion of the session, will earn 6 STEM Clock Hours.
