Do I need to know anything about climate change ahead of time?
Nope! We’ll teach you everything you need to know to be successful in this program. We encourage youth who are deeply curious about climate but haven’t had much experience engaging before or those coming more from a social justice lens to apply.
What will we do?
Fellows meet virtually once a week from February to May to learn, collaborate, and design a collective action project. Each Fellow implements this project in their own local community—whether that’s a neighborhood, school, or another community space—contributing to the group’s shared initiative. Throughout this experience, the cohort supports one another every step of the way.
Between weekly meetings, Fellows work asynchronously to move the project forward, with plenty of opportunities for extra support or additional learning.
What type of projects will the cohort take on?
The project topic will be selected before the program begins based on the indicated interest in the application. What the project looks like within that topic is up to the cohort. Topic selections include:
- Energy
- Community Health
- Green Transportation
- Waste Reduction
- Water
- Habitat Restoration
- Climate Emotions and Resilience
When and where are the meetings?
We will meet as a group weekly on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m. All meetings are virtually hosted on Zoom. There may be opportunities to work in person with other participants residing in your region, but this is not a requirement.
Is this the same as EarthGen’s previous Youth Fellows program?
This program builds on the success and energy of the Youth Fellows program, carrying forward what worked well while offering a refreshed structure and expanded opportunities for collaboration and action.
