Students at Jefferson Elementary, located in Pullman, WA, have demonstrated an impressive water-wise commitment! After conducting an extensive water audit, the team discovered 44 aerators that were old and inefficient. The students teamed up with the City of Pullman to conserve water by replacing 44 aerators with newer models.
The students didn’t stop there. They also marked 10 storm drains around campus to prevent water pollution by reminding their community that storm drains empty into nearby waterways.
Finally, the Green Team engaged their peers and shared what they learned about water systems, water conservation, and water distribution at the school science fair by creating and sharing watershed and aquifer models and a recycled art project to highlight the connection between storm drains and local waterways.
