Tesla STEM High School and Bow Lake Elementary Team Up for Environmental Leadership

Note: Posts before 2020 reflect EarthGen’s former name, Washington Green Schools.

At Tesla STEM High School, environmental leadership starts in the classroom – and students create opportunities to be leaders for the environment. These high schoolers created Operation Sustain, an interactive city-builder simulation computer game. To play, students build a city that provides electricity, food, transportation and housing, while learning about the relationships around providing these needs with a growing population, pollution and the happiness of their citizens.

With facilitation from Washington Green Schools, students at Tesla STEM High School introduced Operation Sustain to fourth grade classes at Bow Lake Elementary, where fourth graders are learning about the intersection of urban planning, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship through the game. This game will provide the elementary schoolers with foundational knowledge for their upcoming Earth Day of Service with Washington Green Schools and Seattle Sounders FC.
