Puyallup Professional Learning Community: Stormwater Challenge (Session 1/2)

Come learn with EarthGen in this professional development opportunity designed for secondary teachers in Puyallup School District. Through in-person, synchronous learning via Zoom, and asynchronous learning via Canvas, participants will have a chance to authentically engage with activities and content as they grow their understanding of how problems with stormwater has and will impact their community.

The October 4th session will take place in person at the WSU Stormwater Center. All other sessions will take place via Zoom. Teachers will learn about their local watershed, stormwater problems and propose stormwater solutions, including a tour of the WSU Stormwater Center. Teachers will leave this training with increased preparedness to facilitate stormwater-focused activities using the science & engineering practices of developing and using models, analyzing and interpreting data and developing explanations and designing solutions.

Schedule and Time Requirements

This PLC will consist of Asynchronous work via Canvas, an In-Person Field Trip, and Synchronous work on Zoom together. EarthGen will provide 6 STEM Clock Hours and a $150 stipend to teachers at completion of the PD.
