Arbor Heights Elementary Gets A Dream Garden

Note: Posts before 2020 reflect EarthGen’s former name, Washington Green Schools.

Students from Ms. Ingerslev’s 3rd grade class designed a dream garden for  Arbor Heights Elementary’s brand new campus in West Seattle. On March 31st, Washington Green Schools brought together a group of more than 60 volunteers to help make this dream a reality. Volunteers from Boeing, Bassetti Architects, PMI, Starbucks, and the Arbor Heights community of families, teachers, and staff worked together to create wheelchair accessible garden beds, plant a sensory garden and native plant garden, and move 10 yards of soil and compost, filling six new vegetable garden beds. We were also joined by special guest, Lily the goat, who spent the morning eating blackberry plants and clover. Students watched Lily work and learned how goats can be used for environmentally-friendly weed control.
