Migrant Students Explore ¡Guacamole Zombi!: A 2018-19 Success Story

Note: Posts before 2020 reflect EarthGen’s former name, Washington Green Schools.

Most of the 30,000+ migrant students in Washington lack access to environmental education. In partnership with the state’s Migrant Education Program, Washington Green Schools is helping close this gap. Translating Zombie Guacamole into Spanish was the first step in implementing the program with migrant students in the Grandview, Kiona-Benton, and Prosser school districts last summer. Students explored food and waste systems in their community and shared their learning with their families. 95% of students who participated in this program now understand the impact of food waste on the environment.
