Washington is one of the first states in the US to invest in K-12 climate education through a statewide initiative called ClimeTime. Recent articles from The New York Times and Reasons to be Cheerful spotlight this innovative work. Organizations like EarthGen are leading the way to bring climate science education to classrooms across Washington.

EarthGen trains teachers with the tools and resources they need to connect the impacts of climate change to their students’ daily lives. A teacher shared, “Thanks to EarthGen, I feel much more prepared to discuss the causes of climate change and help students understand and develop plans to positively impact the local environment.” EarthGen’s professional development prepares teachers to integrate climate science into their curriculum, which helps students understand and take action on the pressing issue of climate change in their communities.
